It all started with a part that didn’t exist.
OPUS was born in the world of small-capacity racing — 50cc endurance, 2- and 4-stroke tuning, pit-bikes and the indestructible old Hondas at the back of the workshop. A world where you quickly hit the same wall: the part you need to make something more reliable, to adapt it, or to find a few extra tenths, is nowhere to be found. It’s no longer made, it never existed, or it comes from another standard that simply won’t fit. So you draw it, you improvise it, you remake it. OPUS is that habit turned into a craft: designing the parts the paddock asks for and that the industry will never make, because the runs are too short and the needs too specific.
Our riders design our parts
We don’t work in isolation. Every reference in the catalogue comes from a real need, reported by the people who ride, tune and race. A rider who always breaks in the same spot, a tuner who wants to fit a carburettor the engine was never meant for, an enthusiast restoring a Camino and hunting for the nut nobody sells anymore: they are our R&D department. Many of our parts are in fact linking parts — adapters, brackets and flanges that reconcile a Japanese engine with a European accessory, a modern cylinder head with a vintage frame. That kind of know-how can’t be invented from behind a desk: it is built with our customers, season after season, feedback after feedback. Their expertise drives what we develop, and every new reference is validated where it truly matters — on the track and on the bench.
Techniques once reserved for industry
What made OPUS possible is also a quiet revolution: manufacturing methods once reserved for large workshops have become accessible. 3D printing lets us prototype a part in a few hours, test it, refine it, then produce in small batches items no mould-maker would ever tool up for. Laser cutting gives us precise, clean, repeatable brackets and plates. CNC machining brings the rigour of aluminium and steel where reliability can’t be compromised — nuts, adapters, engine parts. These tools let us do what we love: demanding small-series work, as close as possible to the real need, with no compromise on quality and without waiting for a factory to take an interest.
